Roast Chickpeas

Or garbanzo beans whatever floats your boat

Back to Home

So usually when I write these I try to make them a bit more entertaining but this is too simple for that, I guess if you wanted you could laugh at the fact that I tried to make these in a frying pan my first time without actually researching how to do it properly (that didn't turn out well so don't try it).

What You'll Need

  • A can of chickpeas (or garbanzo beans they are the same thing)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and other desired seasonings
  • Cooking Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450 or something like that I'm sure you won't die if you set it to 455 or 443 or 452 but 450 seems like a good round number. Next wash your chickpeas and dry them with paper towels (you probably also want to remove any loose skins but I wouldn't stress too much about that since they won't kill you). Once your oven is hot put all your chickpeas into a baking pan and drizzle them with olive oil, you don't want them swimming in oil but you want to get good coverage. Once oiled salt and season the beans to taste and stick them in the oven. Set a timer for 30 minutes and when the timer goes off they should be just about done as they can take anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes to start roasting, peek at them every few minutes when you're at this point and take them out once you think you might be too close to them burning. Let them cool and then enjoy them however you want, they're a good snack on their own but they would probably also be good on a salad as a substitute for croutons and they're also often eaten with hummus enjoy them however you like.
